EXPLAINER
What happens in our brain when we gamble? That is what The Norwegian Gambling Authority wanted us to visualize. Our most important task in this project was to create a compelling and informative narrative that resonates with the audience. It was crucial to maintain an engaging dramaturgy throughout the story to keep the viewer engaged. Last but not least, we wanted to evoke an emotional response from the audience.

Hand’s Gambit
The Norwegian gambling authority plays a vital role in ensuring that Norwegian gambling companies implement specific measures, such as loss and time limits. The film portrays the potential consequences that can arise when these measures are absent. Ultimately, our intention with this film was to emphasize the significance of the work carried out by the Norwegian gambling authority.
To achieve this, we made a relatable character—a gambler symbolized by a solitary hand. We built the storyline with quick changes of scenery, varied soundscape, contrast in colors and size. We went for a humorous tone of voice, and added many layers of references.
Colorful Warnings
The colors used troughout the video play a vital role in conveying the dangers of gambling. The color green initially establishes a sense of calm and normalcy. As the story progresses, the introduction of the color red ignites a sense of urgency and danger, it is a warning of the potential risks when regulations are absent. Furthermore, as the film delves into the darker aspects of gambling addiction, we transition to a darker color palette that represents the descent into obsession and loss of control.
Royal Flush
The client loved the final outcome, and lots of people shared it online. The film was reshared numerous times, effectively reaching a wide audience. It sparked meaningful discussions surrounding the issue of gambling addiction. The video helped raise awareness and showed the importance of preventing gambling addiction. Overall, the animated explainer was a huge success.
